Mental exercise is just as important as physical exercise. Puzzle toys challenge your dog's problem-solving skills and reduce boredom-related destructive behavior.
1. Muffin Tin Puzzle
Place treats in muffin cups, then cover each with a tennis ball. Your dog must remove the balls to access the treats. Quick to set up and adjustable in difficulty.
2. Toilet Paper Roll Treat Dispenser
Fill an empty toilet paper roll with treats, fold the ends closed. Your dog must crush and unroll the paper to get the treats. Biodegradable and free!
3. Frozen Treat Popsicle
Mix broth, pumpkin puree, yogurt, or mashed banana with kibble. Pour into molds and freeze for 8 hours. Great for hot days and teething puppies.
4. Cardboard Box Treasure Hunt
Shred newspaper into a box, hide treats throughout. Your dog must dig and explore to find all the treasures. Mimics natural foraging behavior.
5. Snuffle Mat Alternative
Roll treats in a towel, then fold and twist it. Your dog must unravel the towel to find the hidden rewards. Rotate your puzzles regularly to keep novelty high.
