BarkPark Social ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").

2. Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly to us, as well as information collected automatically when you use our Service.
Information You Provide
- Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and optional profile photo.
- Dog Profiles: Information about your dogs including names, breeds, age, weight, personality traits, and photos you choose to upload.
- User Content: Posts, reviews, photos, comments, and other content you submit to the Service.
- Communications: Messages you send to other users through our platform.
Information Collected Automatically
- Location Data: With your permission, we collect precise location data to show nearby parks, enable check-ins, and provide location-based features. You can disable location access in your device settings.
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
- Usage Data: Information about how you use the Service, including pages viewed, features used, check-in history, and interaction patterns.
- Log Data: IP address, browser type, access times, and referring URLs.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- Create and manage your account
- Enable social features and user-to-user communications
- Show you nearby parks and real-time occupancy information
- Process check-ins and display activity in your community
- Send you service-related notifications and updates

4. Information Sharing and Disclosure

- With Other Users: Your dog profiles, posts, reviews, check-ins, and other public content are visible to other users. Your personal contact information (email, phone) is never shared publicly.
- Service Providers: We share information with third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf (see Section 5).
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or government request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of BarkPark Social, our users, or others.
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
- With Your Consent: We may share information with your consent or at your direction.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate our platform:
- Supabase: Database hosting and authentication services (stores account and app data)
- Stripe: Payment processing for premium subscriptions
- OpenStreetMap: Map data for park locations
- Expo/React Native: Mobile app framework and push notifications
- Vercel: Web hosting services
Each third-party service has its own privacy policy governing the use of your information. We encourage you to review their policies.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we need to retain certain information for legitimate business purposes or legal requirements.
Some information, such as posts and reviews, may remain visible even after account deletion if shared with other users, though it will no longer be associated with your account.
7. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS), secure database storage, and access controls.
However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: You can access your personal information through your account settings.
- Correction: You can update or correct your information at any time in the app.
- Deletion: You can delete your account through Settings → Delete Account. This will remove your personal data within 30 days.

- Location: You can disable location services through your device settings at any time.
- Notifications: You can manage push notification preferences in your device settings or within the app.
9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

- The right to request deletion of your personal information
- The right to opt-out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

- The right to withdraw consent at any time
- The right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
Our legal basis for processing your information includes: your consent, performance of our contract with you (providing the Service), and our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Service.
11. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly. 12. Do Not Track
Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature. Because there is no industry standard for DNT, we do not currently respond to DNT signals. However, you can manage your privacy preferences through the choices described in Section 8.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
