Good to know

  • A mixed breed: the Sheepadoodle is a cross between an Old English Sheepdog and a Poodle, so looks, coat and personality vary with the parents and the individual dog.
  • Plan for grooming: both parents have high-maintenance coats, so expect frequent brushing and regular professional clipping; low shedding is likely but not guaranteed.
  • Herding in the mix: the Old English Sheepdog side brings herding instincts, so some Sheepadoodles may try to herd children or other pets.
  • Active and clever: with two intelligent, energetic parents, most need daily exercise plus training or games to keep their minds busy.
  • A low-shedding coat. Some people with allergies find that easier to live with, but no breed is allergen-free.
  • A designer breed, from crossing two purebred parents, so size, coat and temperament vary more than in a purebred.

Getting out with a Sheepadoodle

They need daily exercise beyond a stroll: longer trails, games of fetch and time to run at the park.
