A guide for a healthy adult. Puppies, older dogs and flat-faced breeds in the heat need less.

Good to know

  • A mixed breed: the Schnoodle is a cross between a Schnauzer and a Poodle, so size, coat and temperament vary with the parents and from puppy to puppy.
  • Coat care varies: depending on which parent's coat they take after, many need regular brushing and professional trimming; a low-shedding coat is likely but not guaranteed.
  • Two smart parents: both Poodles and Schnauzers are intelligent and trainable, so most Schnoodles need regular mental stimulation and do well with reward-based training.
  • A low-shedding coat. Some people with allergies find that easier to live with, but no breed is allergen-free.
  • A designer breed, from crossing two purebred parents, so size, coat and temperament vary more than in a purebred.

Getting out with a Schnoodle

They need daily exercise beyond a stroll: longer trails, games of fetch and time to run at the park.
