Good to know
- A mix, not a breed: the Puggle is a Pug and Beagle cross and isn't recognized by the AKC, so energy, looks and personality vary with the parents.
- May follow its nose: from the Beagle side, many have a strong scent drive, so on-leash walks and a secure fence are wise.
- Mind the heat: a Puggle with a shorter, Pug-like muzzle may handle hot weather poorly, so keep exercise gentle on warm days.
- Expect shedding: both parents have short coats that shed, so weekly brushing helps.
- A designer breed, from crossing two purebred parents, so size, coat and temperament vary more than in a purebred.
Getting out with a Puggle
Daily walks and some play keep them content. A mix of park time and easy trails suits them.
