Pug

Good to know

• Bred to be a companion: Pugs were developed as pets of Chinese emperors and still live to be close to their people.
• Keep them cool: as a flat-faced breed, they don't tolerate heat well and shouldn't exercise hard when it's hot or humid.
• They do shed: the short, smooth coat is easy to care for, but sheds, so a weekly brush helps.
• Sensitive and easy to train: Pugs are eager to please, but harsh methods hurt their feelings, so stick with gentle, positive training.
• Not for long hours alone: they want to be with their family and can be unhappy if regularly left alone for long periods.

Getting out with a Pug

They're happy with shorter, easy walks. Keep outings gentle in the heat.
