A guide for a healthy adult. Puppies, older dogs and flat-faced breeds in the heat need less.

Good to know

  • Tiny but athletic: Toy Poodles share the active, retriever-bred nature of the larger Poodles and need daily play and exercise.
  • Low-shedding, high-maintenance coat: the curly coat sheds little but must be brushed to the skin or kept trimmed to avoid mats.
  • Eager learners: very intelligent and people-oriented, they learn tricks quickly with fun, positive and consistent training.
  • Allergies note: their coat is often suggested for allergy sufferers, though no dog is completely hypoallergenic.
  • A low-shedding coat. Some people with allergies find that easier to live with, but no breed is allergen-free.

Getting out with a Toy Poodle

Daily walks and some play keep them content. A mix of park time and easy trails suits them.
