A guide for a healthy adult. Puppies, older dogs and flat-faced breeds in the heat need less.

Good to know

  • Fast sighthound: an ancient hunting breed used on Malta to hunt rabbits, they are quick, agile and have a strong prey drive.
  • Never off-lead in the open: even well-trained Pharaohs often won't come when called once they spot prey, so a secure fence is essential.
  • Easy coat: the short coat needs only light brushing, and they usually have little doggy odor.
  • Calm indoors: with enough daily running or walking, they tend to be calm, affectionate and playful at home.

Getting out with a Pharaoh Hound

They need daily exercise beyond a stroll: longer trails, games of fetch and time to run at the park.
