A guide for a healthy adult. Puppies, older dogs and flat-faced breeds in the heat need less.

Good to know

  • A mix, not a breed: the Peekapoo is a Pekingese and Poodle cross and isn't recognized by the AKC, so size, coat and personality vary from dog to dog.
  • Coat varies: a puppy may inherit the Poodle's curly, low-shedding coat or the Pekingese's thick double coat, and either needs regular brushing.
  • No guarantee for allergies: no dog is completely hypoallergenic, and mixes may shed more than their Poodle parent.
  • A low-shedding coat. Some people with allergies find that easier to live with, but no breed is allergen-free.
  • A designer breed, from crossing two purebred parents, so size, coat and temperament vary more than in a purebred.

Getting out with a Peekapoo

Daily walks and some play keep them content. A mix of park time and easy trails suits them.
