• A swimmer's build: bred in medieval England to hunt otters in rivers, they have webbed feet, a rough waterproof coat and a love of water.
• Nose first: as scent hounds with a keen sense of smell, they love long walks to sniff the world and often excel at tracking.
• Messy beards: they tend to drag their beards along the ground and carry food in them, so the beard often needs cleaning.
• Likes to use its voice: Otterhounds are a vocal breed, so expect barking and baying, especially when something catches their nose.
