A guide for a healthy adult. Puppies, older dogs and flat-faced breeds in the heat need less.

Good to know

  • A puffin specialist: bred on a rocky Norwegian island to climb cliffs and crawl into crevices after nesting puffins.
  • One-of-a-kind body: they have at least six toes on each foot, ears that can fold shut, and a neck so flexible they can tip the head back to touch the spine.
  • Sensitive souls: they can lose trust if handled harshly, so gentle, positive training and early socialization are key.
  • Low-fuss coat: the harsh double coat only needs a weekly brushing to remove dirt and loose hair.
  • Clever problem solvers: playful and smart, they can be protective of their family and somewhat wary of strangers.

Getting out with a Norwegian Lundehund

They need daily exercise beyond a stroll: longer trails, games of fetch and time to run at the park.
