Good to know
- Farm ratter: bred in Germany to catch rats on farms, they are alert and like to chase small animals.
- Wiry, low-shedding coat: it needs regular brushing and either hand-stripping or clipping every few weeks.
- Beard care: the bushy beard and eyebrows trap food and water, so a quick wipe after meals helps.
- Vocal watchdogs: they bark to announce visitors, so early training helps manage barking.
- A low-shedding coat. Some people with allergies find that easier to live with, but no breed is allergen-free.
Getting out with a Miniature Schnauzer
They need daily exercise beyond a stroll: longer trails, games of fetch and time to run at the park.
