- Single silky coat: there's no undercoat, so they shed very little, but the long coat needs daily brushing or a shorter trim.
- Bred as a companion: kept as a lapdog for thousands of years, they are affectionate and like to stay close.
- Lively and playful: despite their size, they enjoy games and short walks, and can do well in agility.
- Light-colored face care: their white face can stain around the eyes, so many owners gently wipe it clean daily.
- A low-shedding coat. Some people with allergies find that easier to live with, but no breed is allergen-free.
