Good to know
- Water lovers: many enjoy swimming, helped by their water-resistant double coat.
- Family companion: bred in Germany as a companion and working dog, they are typically gentle, calm and affectionate with family.
- Heavy shedding: the thick double coat sheds a lot, especially seasonally, and needs regular brushing.
- Early training matters: they grow very large, so start training and socialization early while they're manageable.
Getting out with a Leonberger
Daily walks and some play keep them content. A mix of park time and easy trails suits them.
