• Dutch barge dog: they rode on canal boats as watchdogs and companions, and still alert you to visitors with a bark.
• "Spectacles": the dark lines running from eye to ear give them their famously expressive face.
• Seasonal shedding: the thick double coat sheds heavily once or twice a year; regular brushing helps, and it shouldn't be shaved.
• People dogs: they are devoted family companions who prefer to be part of household life rather than left alone outside.
• Bright and responsive: they tend to learn quickly and do well with positive, upbeat training.

Getting out with a Keeshond

Daily walks and some play keep them content. A mix of park time and easy trails suits them.
