A guide for a healthy adult. Puppies, older dogs and flat-faced breeds in the heat need less.

Good to know

  • A mixed breed: the Goldador is a Golden Retriever and Labrador Retriever cross, so looks and temperament vary depending on the parents.
  • Retriever instincts: both parents are water-loving retrievers, so many Goldadors enjoy fetching, carrying things and swimming.
  • Active family dogs: both parents need plenty of daily exercise and mental stimulation, and most Goldadors do too.
  • Expect shedding: both parent breeds have shedding double coats, so plan on regular brushing.
  • A designer breed, from crossing two purebred parents, so size, coat and temperament vary more than in a purebred.

Getting out with a Goldador

They need daily exercise beyond a stroll: longer trails, games of fetch and time to run at the park.
