Good to know

• Squirrel dogs: feists are small Southern hunting dogs, developed from terrier and hound crosses to find small game like squirrels and chase it up a tree.
• Silent hunters: unlike many hunting breeds, they usually stay quiet on the track and bark once their quarry is treed.
• Strong prey drive: quick, alert and keen to chase, they are best walked on a leash or kept in a secure yard.
• Low-maintenance coat: the short, smooth coat needs little more than an occasional brushing.

Getting out with a Feist

Bred to keep going: they need plenty of exercise every day, like long trail walks, hikes and off-leash play where it's allowed.
