Good to know
- Bird dogs: bred to find game birds and "set" or freeze when they find them, they still have a strong interest in birds.
- Speckled "belton" coat: the flecked coloring is called belton, and the silky, feathered coat needs regular brushing to prevent tangles.
- Gentle and mellow: affectionate and friendly, they are usually good with children and other dogs.
- Energetic youngsters: they can be slow to mature, and puppies and young dogs need plenty of exercise and patient training.
Getting out with a English Setter
They need daily exercise beyond a stroll: longer trails, games of fetch and time to run at the park.
