Chinook

Good to know

• Sled dog heritage: developed in New Hampshire in the early 1900s as a sled dog combining freighting power with racing speed.
• Gentle family dog: known for patience and eagerness to please, they are usually good with children and, with early exposure, other dogs and pets.
• Seasonal shedding: the double coat needs weekly brushing, and daily brushing during shedding seasons, when shedding can be heavy.
• Chatty when excited: usually quiet, but some "talk", howl or whine when they get excited.
• Trainable: they tend to learn well with positive, reward-based training.

Getting out with a Chinook

They need daily exercise beyond a stroll: longer trails, games of fetch and time to run at the park.
