A guide for a healthy adult. Puppies, older dogs and flat-faced breeds in the heat need less.

Good to know

  • A designer cross: a mix of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Bichon Frise, so coat, size and temperament vary with the parents and from puppy to puppy.
  • Companion at heart: both parent breeds were bred as companions, and many Cavachons are affectionate, people-focused dogs that don't like being left alone for long.
  • Coat care varies: depending on which parent they take after, the coat can be silky or curly, and many need regular brushing and professional trims to stay free of mats.
  • A low-shedding coat. Some people with allergies find that easier to live with, but no breed is allergen-free.
  • A designer breed, from crossing two purebred parents, so size, coat and temperament vary more than in a purebred.

Getting out with a Cavachon

Daily walks and some play keep them content. A mix of park time and easy trails suits them.
