Good to know

  • Louisiana stock dog: bred to find semi-wild hogs and cattle, bring them to bay and hold them, they have a strong working drive.
  • Two sides: often serious and focused when working but clownish at home, and many are aloof with strangers.
  • Needs firm guidance: they can be independent, protective and territorial, so they need consistent training and plenty of exercise.
  • Striking looks: the coat comes in many colors and patterns, including merle ("leopard"), and many have glass-blue or mismatched eyes.

Getting out with a Catahoula Leopard Dog

Bred to keep going: they need plenty of exercise every day, like long trail walks, hikes and off-leash play where it's allowed.
