Exercise: About 1 hr a day
A guide for a healthy adult. Puppies, older dogs and flat-faced breeds in the heat need less.
Good to know
- Laid-back companion: once bred for bull-baiting, today's Bulldog is a calm, friendly, dignified companion that is usually good with families.
- Heat-sensitive: their short face makes it hard to cool down, so keep them out of the heat and avoid hard exercise on warm days.
- Wrinkle care: their facial folds need regular cleaning and drying to stay comfortable.
- Moderate exercise: short daily walks suit them better than long runs, and most aren't strong swimmers, so take care around water.
Getting out with a Bulldog
They're happy with shorter, easy walks. Keep outings gentle in the heat.
