A guide for a healthy adult. Puppies, older dogs and flat-faced breeds in the heat need less.

Good to know

  • Lamb-like look, terrier heart: despite their gentle lamb-like appearance, they were bred to hunt vermin and still have terrier courage and prey drive.
  • Speedy: they have a light, springy gait and can run fast, so secure fencing is important.
  • Special coat care: the soft, curly coat sheds little but needs regular brushing and professional clipping every couple of months.
  • Affectionate companions: they are typically loyal and loving with their family.
  • A low-shedding coat. Some people with allergies find that easier to live with, but no breed is allergen-free.

Getting out with a Bedlington Terrier

They need daily exercise beyond a stroll: longer trails, games of fetch and time to run at the park.
