A guide for a healthy adult. Puppies, older dogs and flat-faced breeds in the heat need less.

Good to know

  • Versatile French herders: bred to herd and guard flocks in France, they are confident, protective and need a job to do.
  • Lots of exercise: athletic and tireless, they need daily vigorous exercise and mental work such as training or dog sports.
  • Firm but fair training: intelligent and strong-willed, they suit experienced owners who train consistently and socialize them early.
  • Easy coat: the short, coarse double coat needs weekly brushing and sheds more seasonally.

Getting out with a Beauceron

They need daily exercise beyond a stroll: longer trails, games of fetch and time to run at the park.
