• French water dogs: bred to retrieve waterfowl and flush game in wetlands, most love water and will head for anything wet.
• High-maintenance curls: the dense, curly coat sheds little but mats easily, so it needs brushing several times a week and regular trims.
• Friendly family dogs: cheerful, even-tempered and affectionate, they like to be involved in whatever the family is doing.
• Active minds: they need daily exercise and enjoy retrieving, swimming and training games.
• A low-shedding coat. Some people with allergies find that easier to live with, but no breed is allergen-free.

Getting out with a Barbet

Daily walks and some play keep them content. A mix of park time and easy trails suits them.
